LELYSTAD, 18 March 2010 – The first rays of sunshine have indicated the start of the new Donkervoort driving season. After the good results of the Donkervoort D8 GT in the 24H of Dubai last January – a 5th place in the class and a 23rd position of the total field of 80 cars – the Donkervoort Racing team has been very busy further developing and improving the cars for the upcoming race season. The road version of the Donkervoort also benefits from these developments. Aided by the participation in racing activities Donkervoort now offers a engine update for the D8 210 E. Also coming from the racing area is the D8 235E edition.

By mounting an entirely optimized exhaust and intake route, an adapted engine management system and a GT4-exhayst system results in even more torque and engine power for the ultra light weight sports cars. Joop Donkervoort: “Especially the reaction time of the turbo has significantly improved, resulting in an engine that is far more responsive to the accelerator. The car provides 235 BHP and the torque augmented with no less than 30 %.

In 2009, Donkervoort already offered the update to the owners of the 25 limited D8 270 RS-series. Due to the success of this update-set it has now been developed for all D8-models as well. The D8 210E serves as the basis for the update, but dependant on the present transmission the 150E- and the 180E-types can be provided with this update too.

The series of adjustments are the result of further bringing the D8 GT(4) to perfection, with which Donkervoort successfully participates in the GT4 European Cup. During the course of the season, the Donkervoort Racing team has, among others, optimized the exhaust system to further improve the overall condition and performance of the Audi-engine. At the same time a special race catalyst and silencer were implemented, resulting in less resistance (and more noise).

The price of the update depends on the specific wishes of the customer. Donkervoort offers the 235E as a new roadster or as a coupé; the D8 GT. Already delivered types can also be updated to a D8 235E.
